Verona police arrest WO teen with more than 3 pounds of pot

VERONA / WEST ORANGE, NJ — A two-month long narcotics investigation concluded Feb. 4 with the arrest of Devon Veltman, 18, of West Orange, according to a March 2 Verona Police Department press release.

According to police, information was learned that Veltman was distributing marijuana to teens and young adults out of his vehicle in Verona and out of his home in West Orange. As a result of the investigation, search warrants were issued for Veltman’s home and vehicle. Verona police officers were assisted by West Orange police officers at the time of the execution of the search warrants, according to the release.

According to police, a search of Veltman’s home turned up approximately 3.5 pounds of marijuana, with an approximate street value of $12,000, along with $1,700 in cash. Further investigation resulted in the seizure of an additional $32,000, which is believed by police to be proceeds from the sale of marijuana.

Veltman was released on bail and scheduled to appear in Essex County Superior Court.

These charges are merely accusations. All persons charged are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
