NEWARK, NJ — Jacqueline Graham is chairman of the MegaClassReunion on Friday, Nov. 29, that hosts all former students of Malcolm X Shabazz High School, formerly South Side, in Newark. She heads the plans for a time of fond memories and renewal of friendships and school spirit that attracted 500 attendees in 2017.
Aboard with the plans is Rasheed Sheffield, the band director who is also an alumnus of the school. During the February monthly alumni association meeting, Sheffield appealed for support of the school, popularly known as the Bulldog Nation.
The school, opened in 1913, has a new cosmetology lab, plus renovated labs for math and culinary arts. The alumni association continues to support the mission that seeks to expand the studies of mathematics, engineering, science and technology. Malcolm X Shabazz High School boasts a prize-winning biochemistry program. It has the championship title for New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Boys and Girls Track and Field in Section 2, Group1 this year.
