Seton Hall returns to the actual NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for the first time since 2006 after winning the Big East Championship against the third-ranked team in the nation, Villanova.
“Our student-athletes have proven time and again, that excellence in the classroom, in addition to on the fields of play, is of the utmost importance,” Seton Hall Vice President and Director of Athletics & Recreation Pat Lyons said in a release. “Articles like these give a glimpse at the hard work and dedication of these young leaders. We’re delighted to see them recognized in this manner, but we’re certainly not surprised. Seton Hall’s academic prowess, both in and out of the athletics department, continues to grow by the day.”
This is the 11th year that Inside Higher Ed has produced its “Academic Bracket” for the NCAA Basketball Tournament. To determine the winners, Inside Higher Ed judges teams based on “the academic progress rate, the NCAA’s multiyear measure of a team’s classroom performance,” and “the NCAA’s graduation success rate.”
