BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The top-seeded Bloomfield High School boys volleyball team defeated eighth-seeded West Essex, 25-9, 20-25, 25-16, in the Essex County Tournament quarterfinals May 14 at BHS. The Bengals improved to 17-5 on the season.
The ECT semifinals will be held May 16 at Livingston HS. Bloomfield will face fifth-seeded Millburn at 5 p.m. followed by No. 2 Livingston against No. 3 Payne Tech at 6:15 p.m. The final will be held at Bloomfield HS on Saturday, May 18, at 1 p.m.
The Bengals won the Super Essex Conference-American Division regular-season championship. It marks their fourth straight SEC title.
In addition, the Bengals received the No. 2 seed in the NSIAA North Jersey Section 1 state tournament and will host the winner of No. 18 Lyndhurst and No. 15 Hackensack on May 21. The top seed is Fair Lawn.
