East Orange natives serve as game officials for NCAA FCS Football Playoffs

EAST ORANGE, NJ – East Orange natives Darin Patrick and Jarrod Johnson were game officials during the 2018-19 NCAA Football Championship Series (FCS) Division 1 Playoffs.

Both officials work in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and have been officiating games for several years.

Patrick is a Side Judge in the conference. He is a graduate of Clifford J. Scott High School and a retired NJ State Police Officer.

Johnson, born in Orange, but a native of East Orange, is a Line Judge in the conference. He is a graduate of Seton Hall Prep, 1986 Star-Ledger 1st team All-State football member, former professional football player, and current healthcare executive.

They worked the first round NCAA FCS playoff game from Northern Iowa University, in which Northern Iowa defeated Lamar University.

They also worked the FCS Championship Game played in Frisco, Texas on January 5, 2019.   In that game, televised on ESPN2, North Dakota State University defeated Eastern Washington University, 38-24, at Toyota Stadium.
