Glen Ridge HS boys lacrosse team is No. 2 seed in South Group 1 state tournament

Geln Ridge High, sparked by Tyler Strong, is the No. 2 seed in the South Jersey Group 1 state tournament.

GLEN RiDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge HIgh School boys lacrosse team received the No. 2 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 1 state tournament and will host No. 15 seed New Egypt May 15 in the first round. The winner will face the winner of No. 7 New Providence and No. 10 Johnson in the quarterfinals May 18. The semfinals are May 22 and the final is May 25. The top sseed is Manasquan.

Grant Conte had three goals and four assists and Ren Debartolomeis had three goals to lead the Glen Ridge High School boys lacrosse team to a 12-5 win over Montclair Kimberley Academy May 11 at Watsessing Park.

Ege Zeybek had two goals and three assists; Patrick Bronander had a goal and an assist; and Colin Ducey, Brendan Easter and Cole Schubert each had a goal for the Ridgers, who won their third game in a row, following the 12-4 loss to Seton Hall Prep in the Essex County Tournament May 4. GRHS improved to 11-4 on the season.

To start the week, the Ridgers defeated Caldwell, 7-2, May 7, in Caldwell. Conte had three goals and two assists and Tyler Strong had two goals. Marshall Swett made four saves for the Ridgers.

Conte had two goals and five assists; Zeybek had two goals and two assists and Ben Bronstein and Strong each had two goals and an assist in the 16-7 win over Morristown-Beard May 9 at Watsessing Park. Bronander, Easter and Debartolomeis each had two goals; and Sean Kaverty and Kyle Kobylinski each had a goal.
