Irvington HS softball team making strides this season

IRVINGTON, NJ – The Irvington High School varsity softball team is making good strides this season.

The Blue Knights defeated Orange, 15-1, in a Super Essex Conference-Independence Division game on May 2 at Irvington Park. Cassandra Cheridor threw her first career one-hitter for the Blue Knights. Cheridor also was batting .515 with 17 hits and one home run in 33 at-bats through the first 13 games of the season.

Sarah Smith has been another key contributor. She was batting .583 with 21 hits and three home runs in 36 at-bats through the first 13 games.

IHS is 5-5 in the division.

The Blue Knights lost to Millburn in the preliminary third round of the Essex County Tournament on May 3 to move to a 7-7 overall record.
