Columbia HS girls track and field team finishes third overall at SEC-American Division Championship meet

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Columbia High School girls track and field team finished in third place overall at the Super Essex Conference-American Division Championship meet held at Schools Stadium in Newark May 11.

Columbia had 110 points among the six teams. West Orange was first with 163 points and Montclair was second with 128 points.

The following are CHS girls’ highlights:

Kamille Sabio won both the long jump at 16 feet-3 inches and triple jump at 35-6. Megan Mosterio won the pole vault at 11-1.

Svea Wickelgren took second place in the 800-meter run in 2:23.11, while Cynthia Agu was fourth in 2:229.44. In the 1,600-meter run, Kirah Tianga placed third in 5:9.50 and Kate Beemer took sixth place in 5:36.68. Darcy Perlman took fifth place in the 3,200 in 12:53.91, while Violet Gordon was sixth in 12:54.92. The 4×400-meter relay team finished in fourth place in 4:16.98.

Bailey Hoff took second place in the high jump at 4-10. Agu was fourth in both the long jump at 15-8 and the triple jump at 33-5 ½. Angel Ezeokoli was fourth in the pole vault at 8-0. Shayla Keegan took second place in the shot put at 35-6 and third place in the discus at 114-7. Corteney Provilon-Louis took second place in the javelin at 87-3. Shanil Auguste took third place in the shot put at 35-4.

On the boys’ side, the Cougars finished sixth overall among the seven teams. East Orange Campus HS won the boys team title for the fourth straight year.

The following are CHS boys’ highlights:

Terrel Williams won the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in 56.14. Callum Howald won the pole vault at 13-7, while Matt McBride was fifth at 10-0. Zaki Abdus-Sabur took fourth place in the high jump at 5-8 and Eric Victorious was fifth at 5-6.

Williams took second place in the 110 high hurdles in 14.50. William Schabacker was fifth in the 3,200 in 10:23.55.
