Orange HS baseball team enjoys 3-0 start to season

Tornadoes to visit East Orange Campus HS in annual Unity Cup Game on April 17

ORANGE, NJ – The Orange High School baseball team has enjoyed a great 3-0 start to the season.

The Tornadoes defeated East Orange Campus, 7-2, in the season opener April 1 at Monte Irvin field. Devon McKay went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored; Carfred Rodriguez went 3-for-3 with a double, walk, four RBI and a run scored; and Eczequiel Mosques went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. David Johnson-Guzman struck out 11 and scattered five runs for the win.

Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two doubles, six RBI and two runs scored and McKay was 3-for-3 with four runs scored in the 16-6 home win over Science Park on April 3. Johnson-Guzman had a double and an RBI and Anthony Ozoria scored three runs.

Rodriguez drove in three runs in the 19-4 win over Lincoln on April 6. Mosques had a single, double and two RBI. Edrich Collin, Randy Chrisostomo, and Ozoria each had a hit and two RBI. Johnson-Guzman and Steve Lazarre each had an RBI.

OHS and EOCHS will meet in their annual Unity Cup Game on April 17 at EOCHS at 4 p.m. The Unity Cup began in 2011. Orange has won all but one Unity Cup. East Orange won it in 2013. Orange won last year’s Unity Cup by a score of 7-3.
