East Orange Campus HS to host Orange HS in boys basketball opener

ORANGE/EAST ORANGE —  The East Orange Campus High School boys basketball team will host Orange High School in the season opener Thursday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m.

The Tornadoes, under head coach Jamaal Cooper, is looking to improve on last year’s 7-17 record.

The Tornadoes return several players. Among them are junior 6-foot-4 forward Kyle Robinson, junior 5-10 guard Hassan Hester, senior guard Rasheed Johnson, senior forward Elijah Thompson, senior guard Nyzeek Mann, senior center Giovanni Peterkin, junior forward Louce Julien and senior 6-4 Kason Smartt. Johnson made first team and Peterkin made second team on the All-Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division last season.

Other players expected to be in the rotation are senior 6-5 forward Zephaniah Cordes, senior 5-9 guard Zakeem Burton, senior guard Kayson Blakewood and senior 6-2 forward Al’Kyjuan Green.

EOCHS finished 9-13 last year in head coach’s Gabe Baltimore debut season.
