BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Music director Israel Herman will conduct the Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra in its second concert of the 2017-2018 season on Sunday, March 11, at 3 p.m. with an exciting program that will include Rossini’s Overture to “Il barbiere de Siviglia,” the Felix Mendelssohn Concerto for Violin in E minor, Op. 64, and Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 6 in C major, D.589. The concert will be held at the Bloomfield Middle School Auditorium, 60 Huck Road in Bloomfield.
The Mendelssohn violin concerto will feature soloist Christopher Jones, a New Jersey native who holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance and music education from Ithaca College and a master’s degree from the School of Music at the University of Michigan, where he served as concertmaster of the acclaimed University Philharmonia Orchestra. He is a member of several professional orchestral ensembles and is currently orchestra director at the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District. He was the first place violin soloist prize winner at the 2007 Empire State Competition.
