MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood Memorial Park has been designated as one of New Jersey’s Great Public Spaces by the NJ Chapter of the American Planning Association. According to the Association, “Memorial Park effortlessly blends the use and characteristics of a local park — where children meet and play — with high quality attractions that draw visitors from across the tri-state region.”
The award will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 15, at 2 p.m. at the Maplewood Civic House, 124 Dunnell Road. All are welcome to attend.
Mayor Victor DeLuca will give a welcome and accept the award along with his colleagues from the Maplewood Township Committee. After additional remarks, there will be a walking tour through Memorial Park.
The 30-minute tour will end at the Maplewood Memorial Library with light refreshments. The mayor will describe the Library for the Future initiative, a vision that integrates the Maplewood Library with Memorial Park.
Guests are invited to stay for a live jazz performance at 3 p.m., which is part of the library’s monthly Art and Music Reception Program.
