MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Celebrate the season at the Durand-Hedden House & Garden on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. with gingerbread houses, a paper ornament activity, treats and shopping. Gingerbread house contestants must enter by Dec. 9; visit www.DurandHedden.org for details and to enter. Children, families and adults are welcome; note that Durand-Hedden has a “little ones” category this year. Children can also visit with a Victorian Santa on Dec. 11, so be sure to have your camera ready.
The creative entries of the 2016 Durand-Hedden Gingerbread House competition will be on display at Durand-Hedden’s Country Store on Dec. 11, 17 and 18, and at the Hilton Library from Dec. 19 through Jan. 17.
Durand-Hedden House is dedicated to telling the history of the development of Maplewood and the surrounding area in new and engaging ways. It is located in Grasmere Park at 523 Ridgewood Road in Maplewood. For more information or to arrange group tours, call 973-763-7712.
