MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The 1978 Maplewood Arts Center will feature two Black History Month events on Sunday, Feb. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. along with the center’s current exhibit of Dolores Stewart’s artwork, “Memorialized Moments: Capturing the Soulful Spirit of Human Nature,” which runs until March 18.
At 2 p.m., Stewart will tell the stories behind some of her sculptures and paintings. She will also sign catalogs of the exhibit, which will be on sale.
At 3 p.m., Lisa Stewart of Cultured Expressions in Rahway will lead a workshop, “Creating with African Fabrics,” sharing ideas for creative sewing and quilting with various African textiles. A sampling of fabrics and specialty merchandise from her studio will be available for purchase.
