‘A Composer’s Vision’ in South Orange

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — On Sunday, Feb. 12, at noon, Grigory Smirnov, the organist at First Presbyterian and Trinity Church in South Orange, will discuss his musical process in “A Composer’s Vision: How Composers Develop Their Work.” The event will be moderated by pianist Beatrice Long.

Smirnov earned a bachelor’s of music degree in composition and piano at Novosibirsk State Conservatory, in Russia, and a master’s degree in music composition at the Juilliard School, in New York City. He is currently a doctoral candidate in music composition at Rutgers University, in New Brunswick.

This free event will give attendees the opportunity to meet the composer for conversation immediately following the main event. This event will be held at the church, 111 Irvington Ave. in South Orange.
