WEST ORANGE, NJ — In honor of National Recovery Month, FAMILYConnections hosted Connect to Wellness, its first free family wellness festival, on Sunday, Sept. 24, at the Clipper Pavilion in West Orange. National Recovery Month, a national health observance, aims to remind Americans that people can recover from mental health and substance use disorders to achieve healthy and rewarding lives.
“The afternoon was sunny and very hot,” FAMILYConnections Executive Director Jacques Hryshko said in a press release. “However, the warm weather did not stop our many guests, presenters, volunteers and staff from celebrating wellness and healthy living. The afternoon offered a series of health-promoting activities including yoga, Zumba, barre and activities for kids such as arts and crafts, face painting and an obstacle course. Connect to Wellness was a fun afternoon in the park offering a few simple ways that people of all ages can follow their own path to wellness and a lifetime of good health.”
