County announces winners of annual county parks photography contest

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo Jr. presented awards to the eight winners in the annual Essex County Parks Photography Contest in adult and youth categories on Saturday, Sept. 23, during the annual Fall Family Festival at the Essex County Environmental Center in Roseland.

“We congratulate the winners of the Essex County Parks Photography Contest and thank all the contestants for sharing what they experienced in our historic parks system,” DiVincenzo said in a press release. “Events like these encourage our residents to visit our open spaces and share their artistic talents. All these photographs capture the beauty, highlight the diversity and natural splendor of our parks, reservations and recreation facilities.”

In the adult category, Mark Hillringhouse from Verona received first place for “Verona Park”; Tom Walsh from West Orange received second place for “South Mountain Reservation, Orange Reservoir”; Suzanne Kuziola from Union received third place for “Eagle Rock Reservation, Eagle Rock 9/11 Memorial”; and Robert Rice from Belleville received honorable mention for “Branch Brook Park.”

In the youth category, Maria Pepper from West Caldwell received first place for “Grover Cleveland Park, Falling Leaves”; Massimo McCormick from West Orange received second place for “Reflections in South Mountain Reservation”; Niccolo McCormick from West Orange received third place for “Branch Brook Park”; and Ava DeBarrios from West Orange received honorable mention for “South Mountain Reservation.”

All photographs will be on display at the Essex County Environmental Center during October. Hours are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
