MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Ron Darling, World Series champion, former All-Star and award-winning television analyst, will be greeting fans and signing copies of his latest book on Thursday, July 21, at 7:30 p.m. at Words Bookstore, 179 Maplewood Ave. in Maplewood. Prior to the book signing, Darling will speak and be interviewed by NY1 correspondent Budd Mishkin.
“Game 7, 1986: Failure and Triumph in the Biggest Game of My Life” was published this spring to coincide with the 30-year anniversary of the historic championship season for the New York Mets. In the book, Darling looks back on his own personal disappointment in leaving after the third inning of the final game of the victorious 1986 World Series against the Boston Red Sox, and reflects on the way professional athletes must reconcile personal disappointment with team goals.
