WEST ORANGE, NJ — The annual District Band Night held on Sept. 28 in Suriano Stadium drew more than 75 aspiring musicians to play with the award-winning Marching Mountaineers during the WOHS v. Bloomfield game.

The annual event allows students in elementary and middle schools to team up with marching band students who play their instruments. The younger musicians get to have the experience of being in a marching band and have a great time doing it.

Band leader Lew Kelly, drum major Jax Apollon, and elementary, middle and high school music teachers were on hand to work with the students and enjoy some playing themselves.

“District Band Night gets bigger and better every year,” West Orange High School Principal Hayden Moore said. “We love having our future Mountaineers and musicians get the opportunity to play with the marching band and see what it will be like. It was a great night of football, music and cheerleading.”
