LEONIA, NJ — October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this year Davis, Saperstein & Salomon is teaming up with the Betty Torricelli Institute for Breast Care at Hackensack University Medical Center to raise awareness like never before.
Seven years ago, Annette B., a case manager at the law firm, was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer stage 2B. After a strenuous fight that included surgery and treatment through the Betty Torricelli Institute in Bergen County, Annette went into remission and has been cancer-free since 2009.
In honor of Annette’s fight, partner Garry Salomon has created the #EmployersThinkPink initiative. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, any employee who has not had a mammogram will have paid time off during the work day to do so. His hope is that all #EmployersThinkPink as he has seen the impact of the disease and what early detection can do. Mammography is crucial in early detection of breast cancer and allows treatment to be started earlier in the course of the disease, possibly before it has spread.
Join Annette, the Betty Torricelli Institute and the staff of Davis, Saperstein & Salomon at the “Making Strides of Ridgefield Park” walk at The New Overpeck Park in Bergen County on Sunday, Oct. 16. The park is located at 40 Fort Lee Road in Leonia. For more information, and to make a donation to Annette’s team “DIVAS” through the American Cancer Society, please visit http://goo.gl/hZMyHQ.
