SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Want to perform a talent in front of a live audience with a chance to win a grand prize of a $500 Amazon gift card? Then here’s your chance to be a part of the first-ever “SOMA’s Got Crazy Talent.”
Video submissions, up to one minute in duration, are being accepted now through Sept. 22 for a talent competition at www.SouthNextNJ.com/contest. Once all video submissions are received, the community will be asked to vote for the acts they want to see at the live show, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 19, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at the Loft in the South Orange Performing Arts Center. A total of nine contestants will be featured with a chance to win a $500 Amazon gift certificate. Second prize is two tickets to a SOPAC show plus a $75 certificate to Jackie & Son restaurant, and third prize is a $50 gift certificate to Sparkhouse Toy store.
“This contest is open to everyone — including kids! We wanted to make the first night of SouthNext casual and fun and what better way to do that than give people a chance to share their talents,” SouthNext producer Steve Schnall said. “We have people who are crazy talented such as people who can sing, dance or play musical instruments, and then we also have people who have a crazy talent — like people who can solve a Rubik’s cube in under two minutes. Show us what you can do!”
Enter the contest by filling out the online form and submitting your name, email, brief description of your talent and a one-minute video clip by Sept. 22. You must use a hyperlink to a video you have uploaded to Youtube, Vimeo or Instagram. Your submission will be featured on the SouthNext website and pushed out to the press and social media for online voting from Sept. 24 through Oct. 8.
