From Camp Peanut Shell for preschoolers and Pioneer Trails and Super Summer day camps for children in elementary and middle school, to Teen Adventure Camp and the Counselor-in-Training program, West Essex Y camps build campers’ self-esteem, confidence and social skills in a fun, safe and enriching environment. Children develop independence and wellness awareness through developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences.

Childcare before and after camp is available at no additional charge and campers who spend two weeks or more in Pioneer Trails Camp or Super Summer Day Camp may sign up for vacation camp, which runs from Wednesday, June 22, to Friday, June 24, and Monday, Aug. 22, to Friday, Aug. 26. Reading time and STEM — Science, Technology, Engineering and Math — lessons are incorporated into all camp curriculums.

Before the information fair, West Essex YMCA Camp Director Joanne Browne will lead tours at 11 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. at Caldwell University, where Pioneer Trails Day Camp takes place. To register, email Browne at jbrowne@metroymcas.org.

From 3 to 5 p.m. at the YMCA, parents can speak with camp directors while children learn about astronomy with the STARLAB portable planetarium — provided by the Fairview Lake YMCA Camps — do crafts and enjoy snacks. For more information, visit westessexymca.org or call 973-992-7500. The Y is located at 321 South Livingston Ave., Livingston.
