MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The GenWealth Group will host its fourth annual GenWealth Walks for Hope on Saturday, Oct. 1, to raise funds to support brain cancer research in honor of longtime Maplewood resident and businessman Angelo Vayas, who died from glioblastoma.

Participants in GenWealth Walks for Hope are asked to make a voluntary donation; donations will be collected in the form of a check on the day of the event. Participants will receive a pre-walk breakfast; a guided 3-mile walk through Maplewood Village, led by Risa Olinsky from Count on Yourself Coaching; a commemorative team T-shirt; and special gifts and prizes. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at GenWealth, 6 Inwood Place in Maplewood. The rain date is Oct. 2.

According to a release, 100 percent of the funds raised by this event will benefit The Caroline Vandemark Fund for Brain and Spine Tumor Research. Established in 2013 in memory of Caroline Vandemark, who lost her life to brain cancer, the mission of the fund is to raise money to support cutting-edge brain and spine cancer research at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center.
