Jazz House Kids to perform in NYC

mont-jazz-house-kids-wNEW YORK CITY — The Montclair-based Jazz House Kids Music + Education Fund addresses the crisis in arts education today by bridging the gap for underserved schools and families in need. Jazz House Kids does much more than teach musicians: It gives students an artistic edge through tested programs and a world-class curriculum, striving to develop community leaders and global citizens.

The youthful ensemble called the Jazz House Collective, directed by Nathan Eklund, will perform the music of Prince and David Bowie in tribute to two uniquely gifted and hugely influential artists, both gone too soon, on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 and again at 9:30 p.m. at Jazz Standard, 116 East 27th St. in New York City. The collective’s book is arranged by Ed Palermo, a much-traveled big band leader whose resume includes recording and touring with Tony Bennett, Aretha Franklin, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri and Lou Rawls.
