SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter Kevin Devine premiered a new song during WSOU’s “Campus Buzz,” the station’s weekly specialty show dedicated to indie and alternative music. The still untitled song, which Devine noted he hadn’t even played yet for his wife and child, was the capstone to an hourlong, at times gregarious, interview. The song, as well as the entire on-air conversation, can be heard at http://tinyurl.com/lbgwgpm.

In a lively exchange with show co-hosts Hanoi Acevedo, Grant Palluzi and Sarah Yenesel, Devine talked about a variety of topics, including his new album “Instigator,” the complexities of touring, mental health wellness, the best superpower to have and the creative process behind his music. Devine also revealed his pizza topping preferences, “I like just cheese and sauce. Pizza, just give it to me straight. But if I am going with toppings, give me roasted peppers and olives.”

In addition to his new song, Devine also performed “Daydrunk” and “No History” live at WSOU over the course of the interview.
