Maplewood author debuts locally set novel

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood novelist Lisa A. Sturm will celebrate the publication of her debut novel, “Echoed In My Bones,” just released by Twisted Road Publications, at an author event on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at The Woodland, 60 Woodland Road, Maplewood.

“Echoed In My Bones” is the story of twin biracial sisters who are separated at birth and raised in neighboring New Jersey towns — Maplewood and Irvington — but worlds apart. The novel was inspired by Sturm’s work as an inner-city psychotherapist.

Book sales at the event will be handled by Words Bookstore. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. For each book sold that evening and during that entire week, the author will be donating $5 to Girls; Live, Love, Laugh, a youth mentoring and empowerment program that services girls in Newark and surrounding towns. Go to www.girlslivelovelaugh.org to learn more about their work.
