Musically celebrating life of beloved Redwood teacher

WEST ORANGE, NJ — At the beginning of the school year, Redwood Elementary School lost longtime vocal music teacher Joel Perry. Perry, who had been with Redwood for more than a decade, led the fifth-grade and chamber choruses, and taught the guitar club. He was also the 2017 recipient of the NJ Association of Jazz Educators Jazz Education Achievement Award.

In memory of Perry and the gift of music that he gave to students, Redwood will hold a musical celebration of his life on Wednesday, Nov. 22. Kindergarten, first-grade and second-grade students will perform from 9:15 to 10 a.m., and third-grade, fourth-grade and fifth-grade students will perform from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

This event is open to the public and will be held in Redwood School’s Multi-Purpose Room, 75 Redwood Ave. in West Orange.
