NEWARK, NJ — Long live rock! Things are about to get a little noisier in northern New Jersey as The Who return to the Garden State. The highly anticipated stop at The Prudential Center in Newark on Saturday evening, March 19th is part of their robust 2016 North American “The Who Hits 50! Tour.”

The legendary British band has been playing to packed houses across the country, delivering many of their most iconic anthems with a passion and vigor of performers half their age. Despite the loss of wildman drummer Keith Moon in 1978 and thundering bassist John Entwhistle in 2002, guitarist/songwriter Pete Townshend and lead singer Roger Daltrey have soldiered on to garner critical acclaim and inspire new generations of rock ‘n’ rollers. Their classic catalog of timeless rock tunes has withstood and outlasted over half a century of fickle fads and countless imitators.
The current touring lineup of The Who is strengthened by the solid musicianship of bassist Pino Palladino, drummer Zak Starkey, and Pete’s younger brother, Simon Townshend, on guitar. Although primarily a well-oiled, powerhouse live act, The Who still occasionally records new music and also dabbles in solo ventures and side projects for charitable causes such as Teen Cancer America.

Originally welcomed as musical peers to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones as a fundamental part of the original 1960’s British Invasion, The Who have gone on to sell more than 100 million records and are widely considered one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time.
