‘Walk the Valley’ with the 48-hour play project

WEST ORANGE / ORANGE, NJ — New Jersey Theatre Alliance presents Luna Theater’s “Walking the Valley: 48 Hours Play Project” on Sunday, March 18, at 3 p.m. This event is part of the Alliance’s Stages Festival, the state’s largest annual theater festival that provides free and discounted theater events for all ages throughout the month of March.

“Walking The Valley” is a site-specific theatrical adventure with music inspired by the Valley Arts District of Orange and West Orange. Set in three distinct locations in the Valley, the piece includes Emmy Award-winning score composer D.D. Jackson, with choreography by Chantel Adams of Dallas Black Dance Theatre and vocals by Marlaina Sims Powell of Broadway’s “The Lion King,” and three site-specific new plays — written on location in just 48 hours! — by Jessie Field, Stephen Kaplan and Doriane Swain, with songs by Clint Edwards and Ben Morss. Performers include Ilana Ruth Cohen, Aaliyah Habeeb, Brittani Murphy, Calvin A. Rollins II, Alexa Teebo and Joanna Warner.

Meet at the Artfullbean Cafe, 400 South Jefferson St. in Orange, at 3 p.m. with your walking shoes on, prepared for a transporting celebration inspired by the community. The event is free, but reservations are recommended. Email joanna.warner@lunastage.org to reserve your place.
