WEST ORANGE, NJ — Curious about painting? Or photography? Or knitting and crocheting? Or creating visual art journal pages? Inquisitive artists-to-be will be able to dabble in these art genres with the help of some gifted instructors on Saturday, June 18, when the West Orange Arts Council will hold its annual Sizzling Summer Art Sampler. The free four-hour event open to all ages begins at noon at the center on 551 Valley Road in West Orange.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to learn the practice of art from practicing artists,” Amelia Panico, who will be teaching photography and book making, said in a release. “With the photography, I’ll be setting up a still life, showing people how to see light and capture light with a digital camera.”
All told, several instructors will be on hand at various tables to complete small art and arts and crafts projects within 30-minute intervals. After a buzzer sounds, people interested in other genres will move onto other tables.
“Instructors will be available for the day so people can sample art and then if they like what they do they can sign up for a workshop,” Heidi Sussman, who will show people how to create visual art journal pages, said in the release.
