WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange High School concert bands continued their winning ways with several highly rated performances at the 20th annual North Jersey School Music Association Region I Concert Band Festival, held March 20 at Verona High School. The Wind Ensemble took a gold rating; the Symphonic Winds and Ninth-Grade Band tool a silver rating; and the Concert Band took a bronze rating.
In addition, senior Jax Apollon received the Musicianship Award for his solo clarinet performance and the Wind Ensemble was named Outstanding Woodwind Section and Outstanding Brass Section.
“At West Orange High School, the arts are equally as important as athletics,” Principal Hayden Moore said in a press release. “We are extremely proud of our musicians and their accomplishments. Congratulations to our band instructors Lew Kelly, Erin Lagatic and Josh Zimmer for their talents and standard of excellence.”
