SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — To celebrate the Halloween season, WSOU 89.5 FM is launching Halloween Vinyl-Fest 2020. The month-long promotion offers listeners the chance to call in and win vinyl albums from bands such as Mastodon, Thrice, Motorhead, Killswitch Engage and Trivium, among others. The festival also includes album exclusives, including recordings by Of Mice and Men and Silverstein.
“It’s no secret that vinyl records have been enjoying a resurgence in recent years and our vinyl giveaways always get the phones ringing off the hook,” WSOU promotions Director Val Petrarca said. “2020 has been a challenging year for all of us and at WSOU we decided to give our listeners a real treat for Halloween.”
WSOU’s Halloween Vinyl-Fest kicked off Oct. 1 and continues every day in October — except Sundays when WSOU airs Catholic and community programming — with chances to win unique, exclusive, new, or classical metal and hardcore vinyl. Vinyl-Fest culminates on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Petrarca noted that the response from the music industry to WSOU’s Halloween Vinyl-Fest has been amazing.
“Record labels really want to help metal fans have an uplifting October,” Petrarca said. “I’ve been inspired by how many labels, bands and artist managers are supporting our vinyl fest. Music has the power to bring people together and improve one’s spirit. I am proud of how WSOU and metal community are uniting to keep listeners going.”
