NEWARK, NJ — The Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the fatal shooting of Altarik F. Rushing, 27, of Newark, according to a July 15 press release from the ECPO.
On Tuesday, July 13, shortly before 11 p.m., Rushing was shot on Van Vechten Street in Newark. Rushing was transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 11:40 p.m.. A second male victim sustained a non–life-threatening gunshot wound.
