NEWARK, NJ — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced Feb. 8 that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Task Force and the Newark Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting.
Fred C. Sims, 29, of Newark, was fatally shot Feb. 7 in the 900 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue.
He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m.
The fatal shooting is under investigation. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
