31-year-old Somerville man killed in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Christopher Williams, 31, of Somerville, according to a June 18 press release from the ECPO.

On Friday, June 18, Williams was fatally shot on the 200 block of Washington Street in Newark. He was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A 28-year-old man was also shot; he survived.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing.
