56-year-old Pennsylvania man dies after being hit by car in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident which resulted in the death of Israel Olushola Adebayo, 56, of Easton, Pa., according to an Oct. 5 press release from the ECPO.

The preliminary investigation indicates that on Friday, Oct. 1, at approximately 2 p.m., the victim was under his friend’s Nissan Altima doing automotive repairs on Somerset Street in Newark when the driver of a Dodge Charger traveling at a high rate of speed lost control and struck the Nissan. Adebayo was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m. The driver of the Dodge Charger remained at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing.
