Arrest made in Newark stabbing homicide

NEWARK, NJ — Nasier McCray, 23, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Jessica Hilton, 32, who was fatally stabbed on July 7 in a hotel on Clinton Avenue in Newark, where she was living; she is originally from Tennessee, according to a July 12 press release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

McCray is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being housed at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.

The ECPO Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is handling the investigation.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
