Bloomfield resident dies after being struck by car

BLOOMFIELD, NJ — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and Bloomfield Public Safety Director Samuel A. DeMaio announced Jan. 14 that the Bloomfield Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal pedestrian incident.

Patrick Forsyth, 59, of Bloomfield, was struck by a man driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck at approximately 8:33 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, at the intersection of Broad and James streets. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:12 a.m.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene. At this time, no charges have been filed. The investigation is active and ongoing.
