Boyfriend charged with murder of Montclair woman

NEWARK, NJ — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Montclair Police Chief Todd Conforti announced Nov. 28 that Kenneth Jones, of Montclair, has been charged with the fatal stabbing of Tameeka Johnson, 41, also of Montclair.

On Nov. 12, Montclair police discovered the victim in the Greenwood Avenue home she lived in with Jones. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:35 a.m.

Before police arrived, Jones fled the scene; he remains at large. Jones is charged with murder and weapons offenses.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The investigation, which is active and ongoing, is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and Montclair Police Department.
