CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Cedar Grove police apprehended a West Orange man on Friday night, Dec. 8, after a Rockledge Place resident reported a suspicious man on his property.
According to police reports, the homeowner who was not home at the time, was alerted to the suspect by his home security camera, which detected motion on the property. Using his cell phone, the homeowner saw a suspicious man, later identified as Kevin M. McNamara, 65, of West Orange crouching next to his home. He provided a detailed description of the suspect and the suspect’s location on the property to police.
Cedar Grove police officers responded to the scene and located McNamara in the backyard. Upon seeing the officers, McNamara allegedly fled through an adjacent yard, but was apprehended after a brief foot chase. He was reportedly found to be in possession of numerous tools commonly used to commit a burglary, including a flashlight, gloves and a screwdriver. He was charged with possession of burglary tools and obstruction of the administration of law.
