East Orange homicide still being investigated

EAST ORANGE, NJ — The East Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a homicide. Basil Howard, 51, of East Orange was shot on Saturday, May 5, in the vicinity of North Grove Street and Hoffman Boulevard in East Orange. On Tuesday, May 8, at 5:22 a.m., he died from his injuries.

At this point in the investigation, no arrests have been made. The investigation active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the prosecutor’s tips line at 877-847-7432.
