NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal Sept. 22 shooting of Jamal Williams, 29, of East Orange, according to a press release from acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
On Sunday, Sept. 22, Williams was shot in the 200 block of Mulberry Street at approximately 10:45 p.m. He was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:07 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
