Fugitive Apprehension Team arrests Newark man for carjacking

NEWARK, NJ — Omar Wright, 32, of Newark, was arrested for an armed carjacking that occurred on Sunday, Oct. 23.

At approximately 9 p.m., a 31-year-old male victim parked his vehicle in the area of Clinton Avenue and South 10th Street, when he was approached by two suspects, who robbed him and stole his vehicle at gunpoint.

As part of their investigation, detectives determined Wright is a suspect in this carjacking and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

The Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Wright on Monday, Dec. 5, without incident. He is charged with carjacking and conspiracy.

The second suspect remains at large and the investigation is continuing.
