NEWARK, NJ — The Aug. 9 fatal shooting of Paul L. Boykins, 34, of Hillside, is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, according to a press release from acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose.
On Aug. 9 at approximately 10 p.m., Boykins was shot in the area of 50 North 5th St. in Newark.
He was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
