Irvington and Newark men charged in Brick City homicide

NEWARK, NJ — Three men — Tyshon Armor, 19, of Newark; Reynold Henderson, 18, of Irvington; and Isaad S. Jackson, 20, of Newark — have been arrested in connection with the March 9 shooting death of Dedric Bracey, 22 of Newark, according to a March 11 press release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on March 9, Newark police officers responded to reports of a shooting in progress on St. Paul Avenue. Arriving officers located the victim, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Bracey was transported to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:35 p.m. Information developed at the scene indicated that the suspects had fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Shortly after the shooting, detectives from the New Jersey State Police observed a vehicle in Irvington that matched the description of the vehicle involved in the shooting. The vehicle, which was occupied by Armor, Henderson and Jackson, was stopped by the NJSP detectives.

An investigation by detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department and the New Jersey State Police, led authorities to charge these men with the murder of Bracey. As a result of evidence developed during the investigation, Armor, Henderson and Jackson were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. The suspects were lodged in the Essex County Correctional Facility pending detention hearings.

The charges against these individuals are merely accusations. They are presumed innocent unless or until proved guilty in a court of law.
