Man wanted for hit-and-run that injured two women

NEWARK, NJ — Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced Jan. 17 that Nester Marin-Romaldo, 35, of Elizabeth, is wanted for a hit-and-run that resulted in serious injuries to two female pedestrians as they were leaving a local establishment.

On Sunday, Jan. 6, at approximately 1:58 a.m., two women were struck by a white SUV in the area of Verona Avenue and Broadway in Newark. Both women, ages 48 and 33, sustained life-threatening injuries and remain hospitalized.

Marin-Romaldo, the alleged suspect, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of leaving the scene of an accident in which two women both sustained serious bodily injuries. Romaldo’s last known address was Elizabeth; he is originally from Mexico.
