Newark Fugitive Apprehension Team arrests shooting suspect

NEWARK, NJ — the Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Anthony Joana, 42, of Kearny on Friday, Nov. 18, for a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Hawkins Street near Roanoke Avenue. A 48-year-old male victim was shot at by a suspect after asking him to leave the property of a private residence. The suspect fled on to Hawkins Street after the shooting.

As a result of their investigation, detectives have determined that Anthony Joana is a suspect in this incident. Judge Marvin C. Adames issued a $100,000 warrant for Joana’s arrest.

F.A.T. detectives arrested Joana on Friday, Nov. 18, at his residence in Kearny. He is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
