NEWARK, NJ — The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigation a homicide.
On Saturday, July 14, the body of 55-year-old Nellie Marquez was discovered in her apartment in the 100 block of Dayton Street in Newark. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:21 p.m. An autopsy will determine the cause of death, but the preliminary investigation indicates she died from blunt force trauma.
At this time, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
