NEWARK, NJ — William Manley, 48, of Newark, has been charged with the murder of Terrell Malone, 28, of Toms River, according to an Oct. 2 press release from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Malone was shot at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 16, 2018, in the vicinity of 56 Parkhurst St. in Newark. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital.

Manley, who is currently in custody, has been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, unlawful possession of weapons and possession for weapons for an unlawful purpose.

“We are pleased we were able to make an arrest in this cold case. We never gave up on this case. Now we can proceed with the quest of pursuing justice for the victim’s family,” acting Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said.

“The investigation of this homicide was unrelenting and I am grateful that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force successfully identified the suspect and brought him into custody,” Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
