NEWARK, NJ — Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced the arrest of Lamar Jenkins, 33, of Irvington, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in connection with an aggravated assault shooting on Tuesday, Oct. 25.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., a 36-year-old male victim was shot in the 600 block of South 20th
Street. A silver vehicle pulled next to the victim. The driver exited the car and shot the victim several times before speeding away. The victim was transported to University Hospital where he underwent surgery and is in stable condition.
As a result of their investigation, detectives determined that Jenkins is a suspect in this shooting. A $200,000 arrest warrant was issued for Jenkins, who was arrested after turning himself in at the 4th Precinct.
Jenkins is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and certain persons prohibited from weapon possession.
